Ice Water Extraction

Ice Water Extraction

Ice Water Extraction

- IWE is a Solventless cannabis concentrate. The process includes just water, ice and fresh frozen cannabis buds.

-Once the cannabis is processed using IWE we are left with the isolated trichomes or resin heads which can them be pressed into Rosin

- Rosin is a way to further refine the IWE into a concentrate using heat and pressure. The Isolated trichome heads are placed into a mesh bag and pressed between two plates. When the plates reach a certain pressure the rosin comes flowing out. Creating a smokable product. That is the cleanest form of cannabis concentrate.

Why Ice Water Extraction?

- This is our preferred method of trichome extraction because it only requires water, ice and cannabis. It is extremely safe and free of any harmful chemicals.

-IWE and Rosin have higher terpene levels than solvent based extracts which make flavor profiles more apparent and create an entourage effect with the cannabinoids for a more full body high.

- Rosin melts cleaner than a solvent based extract for a more appealing appearance.

- The vapor produced from rosin tends to be considerably smoother than that of solvent based extracts and is a lot more palatable.

No-till Living Soil

- No-till farming minimizes soil disturbance which helps keep carbon in the soil. It also enriches soil biodiversity, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers that emit greenhouse gases.

- Soil microorganisms, fungi and bacteria, critical to soil health, also benefit from no-till practices. When soil is left undisturbed, beneficial soil organisms can establish their communities and feed off of the soil’s organic matter. A healthy soil biome is important for nutrient cycling and suppressing plant diseases. As soil organic matter improves, so does the soil’s internal structure—increasing the soil’s capacity to grow more nutrient-dense crops.

- Living soil grown cannabis has a wider range of cannabinoids and the highest concentration of terpenes when compared to other synthetic growing methods.

- This means better flavor and a more enjoyable high.

- Living soil grown cannabis is considerably smoother when compared to cannabis grown using synthetic nutrients and chemical fertilizers.

65mm 4:1 MACRO PHOTO OF CANNABIS IN FLOWER (4x larger than life magnification)

  • At this level of magnification you can see the trichome heads sitting upon their stalks.

  • Those resin glands are what we aim to isolate through the gentle agitation of our ice water hash process.

  • Take note of the stage of development of each trichome head, indicated by milky, clear and amber expressions.

  • At harvest there is a variety of  trichome heads.

  • That is where micron size comes in. Due to the variation in gland size we use screens in the IWE process to separate them.

  • With the hash being separated by micron size we have more control over the quality of the end product.
